2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia vs Lexus ES/IS

Comparing the New 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia vs. the 2021 Lexus ES & IS

The competition is stiff in the luxury sedan segment, and we've decided to show our customers how the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia bests some of its rivals in the new Lexus ES and IS models. In addition to a stunning aesthetic, the Italian-made Giulia boasts a dynamic drive and plenty of interior comforts. If you're in the market for a new upscale sedan and based in Vancouver, BC or any of the nearby areas of White Rock, Coquitlam, Surrey, Langley, or Burnaby, read on to find out how the 2021 Giulia measures up before visiting Alfa Romeo of Vancouver for a test drive.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Interior Features & Comfort

As the industry's consummate upscale sedan, the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia makes most any competitor look tame on the inside, the Lexus IS and ES included. The IS, in particular, could take some cues from this year's Giulia, which boasts a stunning, driver-centric cabin lined with upscale materials like soft-touch plastics and fine leather. Furthermore, those who'd like to add a pinch of extra refinement to their experience can choose from genuine wood or textured metallic trim for their Alfa Romeo sedan's cabin.

The new Giulia's interior is also as practical as it is attractive, as it hits the market with class-competitive storage capability and a wide dash that shields its standard 8.8-inch touchscreen from the sun. In addition to its user-friendly infotainment display, the Alfa Romeo fixture also includes a trio of USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. Other tantalizing available features include heated rear seats and a Harman Kardon premium audio system for those who crave optimal comfort and entertainment. As for its Lexus rivals, the IS's already dated interior remains mostly untouched from its outgoing model, while the ES lacks the tasteful flair drivers expect in an upscale vehicle.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Exterior Styling

Few vehicles make a statement like the new Giulia. Indeed, this Alfa Romeo model makes both the redesigned Lexus IS and ES appear dull on the outside, as it hits this year's market with a sleek body, a sloped roof, and a striking front end. Thanks to its maker's patented V Scudetto grille and sport front fascia, the 2021 Giulia can etch itself into the memory of anyone who feasts their eyes on it. That's not all the latest Giulia brings to this year's market, as it's now available in four new bold body colours: Verde Montreal, Ocra GT Junior, Rosso GTA, and Rosso Villa d'Este.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Performance

The latest Alfa Romeo Giulia's performance can meet the needs of every driver on the proverbial spectrum, no matter which configuration you choose. This luxury sport sedan's hardware satisfies both thrill-seekers and those who enjoy a casual weekend drive, offering a responsive yet controlled ride that motorists can tailor to their liking with the Giulia's drive-mode selector. Rest assured, this popular model lineup also packs plenty of power. The base trim boasts 280 horses, while the riveting Quadrifoglio variation hits 100 km/h in just four seconds and houses a robust 505-horsepower engine. Lastly, Alfa Romeo has heeded motoring purists' pleas for the return of its beloved GTA trim, which bests even the Quadrifoglio with a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine packing 523 horsepower.

As for its two Lexus competitors, the IS and ES offer several different powertrain options, none of which are worthy of a luxury or sport sedan. Not only is the IS' base turbocharged 2.0-litre engine unchanged from last year's model, its output has also been criticized as sluggish by many reviewers. The Lexus ES, by comparison, houses a 203-horsepower motor and eight-speed automatic transmission that provide a leisurely drive, but perhaps too leisurely, as it needs about nine seconds to reach 100 km/h.
